What to Expect

We gather every Sunday for worship and community at Joy Lutheran Church. Worship is our heartfelt "thank you" for the grace God pours into our lives. Each week we gather to sing, pray, hear God’s word, and receive God's sacraments. As a liturgical church, our worship follows the church seasons and lectionary, to guide us through the life of Christ.

8:30 AM – Contemporary Service
A modern worship experience featuring contemporary praise songs in a relaxed, engaging environment.

10:30 AM – Blended Service
A meaningful mix of traditional hymns and contemporary worship with a more structured, liturgical style.

Each service lasts approximately one hour, and communion is offered during both services.

Faith
Formation

9:45 AM - September-May

We offer Faith Formation classes for all ages, including adults, youth, and children—providing opportunities to grow deeper in God’s Word and build community.

Faith formation ends in time for the 10:30 AM service. 

Nursery

Infants through toddlers may be cared for in the nursery during both services. Toddler and school‑aged children may start worship with their families in the sanctuary and are welcome to visit the nursery after the Children’s Sermon. They will rejoin the congregation during the Song of the Day after the Sermon.

FAQ

Worship largely consists of music, prayer, sacraments and hearing God’s word. Our music is a blend of contemporary songs and traditional hymns with our musicians playing piano and guitar. Our worship is liturgical, meaning we follow a pattern of words and practices that come directly from the scriptures. This rhythm helps us hear God speaking to us. At most of our worship services, we invite all baptized believers to receive communion which is God’s grace in wafer and wine. Finally, in worship we hear God’s word by reading scripture, listening to the preacher’s sermon, and reciting the words of our liturgy.

All baptized Christians who believe that Christ’s body and blood are truly present in the bread and wine are invited to receive Holy Communion. Children who have not yet received first-communion instruction are invited to come to the altar to receive a blessing. Please follow the directions of the ushers or ask a worship leader.

The bread and wine will be distributed by Intinction. (Where the host is dipped into the wine so that both are received together.)

There is a pre-sealed bread and wine option in the middle aisle with gluten free bread and grape juice if you prefer.

Yes, at our worship services we offer large-print bulletins. We also offer individual assisted listening devices.

Absolutely! We believe one of the greatest gifts of the church is having people from all generations worshipping together. At the same time, we understand the needs and energy levels of young children, so we provide a staffed nursery for preschool-aged children and activity bags for elementary-aged kids. Parents and children are also welcome to step into our Gathering Area at any time if needed. Audio from the service is available there, allowing parents to continue listening and participating while caring for their children.
